I want to vote for the Weekly News – up to the date of its demise, if permissible – being digitised. I too am surprised it hasn’t already happened, being THE national newspaper. It would get so much use from historians, family genealogists, schools, museums and libraries. I also agree with the suggestion that all the images be scanned from the original negatives and glass plates (if they still exist), because the printing quality of the pictorial supplement was poor.

Thanks Jben005. Check out the original entry for Auckland Weekly News votes here: http://makeit.digitalnz.org/voting/ideas/47 with over 230 votes and several comments.
It contains information of soldiers all over New Zealand that were injured – but is only available in Auckland to look at. Digitising is the only logical way to go for a resource like this.
Because of the information about the 1st World War Soldiers
The Weekly News was a very important part of my life as a child, giving us an insight into what NZ as a country was all about. The wide range of articles as well as the excellent photos in the centre captured life as it was lived.
The Weekly News contains much information useful for researchers and family historians like myself.
