I think these are all really good, logical ideas. For example, my family arrived in the Charlotte Jane in 1850 (Charles Jeffs) and of course I would welcome anything to enlarge our family history. I have stumbled across this site, but I still don’t get it. Everyone here sems to be suggesting really good ideas about digitizing photos, etc. etc. So then what?? Who does what next?? Or is this just a website for everyone to vent their spleen?John Beadle (johnhb69@gmail.com)

Hi John,
The voting tool is a way for people to communicate their need for NZ digital content. It aims to give a voice to people who need digital content, and a gentle flag to content providers that there is a need. For a bit more information about its purpose visit the FAQ page: http://makeit.digitalnz.org/about/about-the-voting-tool#why
Also we are running the Make It Digital Digitisation Award ( http://makeit.digitalnz.org/about/award/ ) which has two awards of up to $10,000 on offer for organisations who have NZ content they want to digitise and make easier to find, share and use. Part of the award process is to post the idea on the Make it Digital and encourage comments and votes from communities.
There are also other sections of the Make it Digital site that you might find useful. For example we have published a "Digitising Family History and Whakapapa Guide: http://makeit.digitalnz.org/guidelines/getting-started/digitising-family-history-and-whakapapa/
