Our Images & Citations Project will enhance the Register Online by adding text and pictures to the information about historic places, historic areas, wahi tapu and wahi tapu areas already held there. We want the pictures and information to be easy to look at on the Internet so that people can learn about our heritage and history from wherever they are, instead of having to visit one of our offices or ring and ask for the information to be posted or faxed (but we will continue those services too).

The off line storage of information about New Zealand’s heritage makes it more difficult for a wider audience to access. Card files, booklets and library archives may be good for original material, but placing copies of important information and images make this accessable and relevant to most interested people whereever they are.

this would help us preserve our history for future generations, and would be a great teacher and student resource
